Leonard Maditz, 88, of Shinnston passed away October 12, 2017 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on December 24, 1928 in Mount Clare to the late John Stephen and Anna Belle Steffich Maditz.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Frances Maditz; children, Fredrick Maditz of Oregon; Edward Maditz and his wife Candi of Clarksburg; Stanley Maditz of Shinnston; Jeffrey Maditz and his wife Nancy of Hinesville, GA; 5 grandchildren, Shawn Maditz; Delta Maditz; Christopher Maditz; Carson Maditz; Jonathan Maditz and his wife Denise; and Susan Maditz; 6 great grandchildren, Samantha Maditz; Ayden Maditz, Destiny Maditz; McKinsey Maditz; Liam Maditz; and Grace Maditz; brothers, Robert Maditz; Edward Maditz and his wife Dorothy; Thomas Maditz and his wife Sue Maditz; and his dog Rosie.
In addition to his parents, Leonard is preceded by his son, Mark Andrew Maditz; brothers, John Maditz; Joseph Maditz; William Maditz; George Maditz; Leon Maditz; Daniel Maditz; and Walter Maditz.
Leonard was a graduate of Washington-Irving High School. Over the year’s he worked at Wilson Bakery and Knights Construction. Leonard served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later retired from City of Shinnston: Assistant Chief of Police. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, working outside, and gardening.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston on Monday from 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 2-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at Harmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 1 PM with Pastor Kevin Nuzum officiating.
