Betty Jane Vincent, 93, of Enterprise passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at her residence.
She was born June 10, 1924 at Bingamon, Marion County, a daughter of Robert D. Burnett, Sr. and Frances Ellen Wright Burnett Spiker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Vincent, who passed away August 6, 2009.
She is survived by her Brother, Robert D. Burnett, Jr. and his wife Patty of Shinnston; Nieces, Mary Rose Carpenter, Enterprise and Darlene Robinson and Robert, Shinnston, Mary Carla White and Sue Suppa; Great-Nephews and Great-Nieces, Leslie Carpenter, Dylan Oliveto and Kim, Rachel Oliveto; Great-Great Nieces, Alexia, Myah, and Kylin, her nephews wife, Betty Zirkle Carpenter.
Also preceding her in death were her Nephews, David Carpenter, Don Carpenter, Charles Carpenter, and Richard Vincent; her Niece, Ina Jean Carpenter, Nettie June Willis, Shirley Ashcraft, and PauletteToth Woods; her in-laws, Iva Carpenter, Alma Woods, Ruth Stevens, Garnett Vincent, and Ensel Vincent.
Betty’s first job was at G.C. Murphy’s in Shinnston, then Merk’s Chemical in New Jersey, then Westinghouse in Fairmont during WW II where she worked on Norton bomb sights, and retired as bookkeeper at Montgomery Wards.
Betty was a 1942 graduate of Shinnston High School. She was a member of Enterprise United Methodist Church, Dabbler’s Art Club, and Shinnston Senior Citizens.
The family would like to show appreciation to Debbie Barr with Seniors, who was her caregiver for 8 years, Tessa Yost with Hospice and many other personal caregivers whom she called her girls.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston from 2-8 PM Wednesday. A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 17, 2018 with Rev. Brian Plum and Jonathon Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Enterprise I.O.O. F. Cemetery.
