It is with great sorrow our family announces the passing of Jacqueline Bonasso Salerno, on Friday, July 27, 2018, in Mountain View, CA.
Jacque viewed life through the eyes of the Artist that she was, with color, creativity, style, imagination, and the distinct ability to look at a blank canvas and see what others could not. Always the fashion icon, she colored outside the lines, determinedly living on her own terms. Her engaging personality encouraged the rest of us to do the same.
Jacque was born in Ft. Belvoir, VA, on November 14, 1949, to the late Russell P. Bonasso and Eleanor Wells Bonasso. The daughter of a US Army officer, she found her childhood homes to be all over the world. Graduating from Central High School in London, England, her life-long love for art was already blossoming.
As a 1971 West Virginia University alumnus, she continued her Masters level training in Interior Design at the Art Institute of Pittsburg, PA, followed by the Hans Krieks NYC Masterclass for interior architecture and space planning.
She went on to earn her Executive MBA in Business Administration and Marketing from The George Washington University in 1994, and her CoreNet Global Master of Corporate Real Estate in 2011.
During her illustrious decades-long career as a leading corporate real estate executive, Jacque’s notable talent served such organizations as Tandem, COMPAQ, Hewlett Packard, and HGST. Her strategic thinking, financial acumen, and unique aptitude for connecting space with tangible realities, produced successful project management for extensive ventures, including relocation and delivery of site requirements for the AAA Corporate Relocation Project and Cushmand & Wakefield’s PG&E New Campus Expansion.
She was actively involved with the professional association of corporate real estate executives throughout her career, bringing her positive energy and full-charging attitude to Nacore, IDRC, and CoreNet Global, additionally serving as an effective Board Member for CoreNet Northern California, the largest organizational chapter. She was highly esteemed and respected by her colleagues, who considered her a pillar of the real estate industry.
Jacque’s remarkable joy of life was the conduit for her laughter, humor, love and compassion. Her presence insured fun at every occasion, and her impish delight in stirring up controversial conversations charmed us all. She was continually among the first to generously respond to life events of family, friends, and colleagues, never missing an opportunity to faithfully communicate her thoughtful care.
Jacque is survived by her husband of 39 years, Giovanni Salerno. She met him in Rome, Italy in 1978; he has cherished her from that day forward.
Her devotion to family endeared her to those of us who remain: a treasured daughter to Eleanor; a beloved sister and sister-in-law to Pete, Kay, Vince, Phil, Claire, Stacey and Karen; an adored Aunt to 17 nieces and nephews, and their families; the object of deep affection for her extended family and many friends.
Jacqueline Bonasso Salerno’s life was a priceless gift to all who knew her. Her vibrant spirit will forever shine in our hearts.
