Ervin was a very dear friend to the children of Eleanor Powell, they loved him like a father and he was a devoted grandfather to all their children and grandchildren. Ervin loved to hunt, loved to fish and ride his 4-wheeler and spent many hours teaching and playing with the grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Wallace Church of Christ where he devoted most of his time after retirement. He would knock on the doors of the Wallace community striving to bring more membership to the Lords church. Teaching bible classes and leading the singings of the gospel was a joy to him.
