Joe Ann DeMarco, 81, of Shinnston passed away on Sunday September 22, 2019 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
She was born in Lumberport ,WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Bitonti.
Joe Ann was preceded in death by her husband Sam DeMarco, Sr., who went home to our blessed Lord in 2012. They were married for 58 years.
Joe Ann was so in love with her family. She thought of them as her greatest accomplishment. Surviving are her children, Frank Anthony DeMarco and wife Kathy; Louis Michael DeMarco and wife Angela; Sammy Jr. DeMarco and wife Lisa; John William DeMarco and wife Roberta; Mary Catherine Fleece and her husband Matthew; and Sarah Virginia Chambers and husband Dale; her grandchildren, Tara (Nick) Leverton, Heather (Scott) Stone, Ryan DeMarco, Zachary DeMarco, Kylea (Curtus) Radcliff, Adam “Bub” (Rachel) DeMarco, Vincent (Tiffany) DeMarco, Mary Jo DeMarco, and Kendall DeMarco, Marina Fleece, Megan Fleece, Madison Fleece, and Matthew Fleece, Adam Miller, Zach Miller, and Kelsey Miller; her great-grandchildren Emma Johnson, Sammie Johnson, Gabe Williams, Shaun DeMarco, Kymber Stone, and Cole Radcliff; and her great-great grand-child Piper Stalnaker. Also surviving are several very special nieces and nephews. Additionally she leaves behind several others that consider her like their Mother.
In addition to her parents, Joe Ann was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Bitonti, Rosa Bitonti, and Virginia Crisp, one brother William Bitonti all from Michigan and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
For many years Joe Ann was a stay at home mom and then worked as a cook for T & R and Heart of Town Restaurants. In 1984, Joe Ann and her husband Sam opened DeMarco’s Meat Market, in Shinnston.
Joe Ann was very devoted to her religion, family, and to their family business. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston. Every Sunday she prepared a feast for 25+ family and friends to gather, which made her the happiest. She never met a stranger and constantly was worrying about feeding and giving kindness to others. She truly kept her life simple; but made sure that it was rich and plentiful with love and kindness to all.
She was so very blessed to have some amazing nurses, therapists and aides at River Oaks.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday September 25, 2019, where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston with Reverend Father Akila Rodrigo T.O.R and Father Gary Naegele as Co-Celebrants.
