James Dean Glaspell Sr., 78, of Spelter, WV passed away on January 26, 2020 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on May 19, 1941 to the late Curtis and Hazel Glaspell.

James is survived by his daughters, Linda Glaspell of Spelter, and Robin Banks and her husband John of Meadowbrook; son, James Glaspell Jr. and his wife Jackie of Spelter; grandchildren, Jessica Lanham and her husband Brady of Shinnston, Amanda Lindsey and her husband Justin of Lumberport, Johnny Banks and his companion Dawn Carder of Clarksburg, James Glaspell III and his wife Candace of Spelter; great-grandchildren, Carlie Lanham, Coleton Lanham, Tori Lanham, Gunnar Lanham, Aubrey Lindsey, Jaxon Lindsey, Delilah Glaspell and Elizabeth Glaspell, Adalynn Carder; brothers, Tom Glaspell and his companion Tammy Shreve of Ohio, and Roy Glaspell of Ohio; sisters, Linda McAtee of Clarksburg; special nephew, Ray Kupfner and special friends, Bill and Eva Hall.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Clara Glaspell having been married for 59 years; daughter, Brenda Glaspell; brothers, Waitman Glaspell, Joe Glaspell, Jack Glaspell, Bob Glaspell and Kenny Glaspell; sisters, Lucille Nelson, Betty Tipton, Vonda Brown and Georgie Davis.
James worked at Harrison Power Station for 31 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing with Brother Bob and going to Nascar races to watch Dale Earnhardt. James watched all of the WVU Sports and also walked 6 miles each day.
Friends and Family will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a funeral service at 6:00 PM with Rev. Duane Bartrug officiating. Interment will be at Lion’s Club Cemetery, Lumberport.
