Rebecca Rogers Osborne, 58, passed away April 8, 2020 following a long battle with cancer. Rebecca was born April 14, 1961 to David and Judith Rogers of Lumberport. She had a heart of gold, making everyone feel welcome and knew no strangers. She was a caring and giving person quick to offer her services to family, church, school and friends. She attended Lumberport High School and a member of the Lincoln High School’s first graduating class and served as Lincoln’s first Miss Cougar and varsity cheerleader. Becky stayed in touch with classmates and served on the alumni board to help with planning class reunions for both the Lumberport High and Lincoln High School. She attended Potomac State College and graduated from West Virginia University, BS and Masters. Rebecca worked for the WVU Extension Service for 33 years as a communication and training specialist serving Extension state faculty and staff.

Becky had a great love for the family farm, the animals and flower gardens. Becky loved hosting family reunions at the farm and all the memories it provided getting together with “the cousins, nieces, and nephews”. She and her brothers were members of the Harrison County 4-H and participated every year in 4-H camps and the WV Dairy Show at Jackson’s Mill. She was very proud and honored to have served as the WV Dairy Princess representing WV dairy farmers at industry events, fairs and festivals. The Harrison County Master Gardeners was one of her favorite organizations. She served as an officer and dearly loved working with the group on service projects and at the Harrison County MG Spring Clinic. She could often be found working tirelessly in the numerous flower beds developed around the farm from plants she exchanged from fellow gardeners. Becky was an active Christian and member of the Lumberport Baptist Church. She dearly loved her church family serving and supporting their missions.

On November 8, 1986, Rebecca married Phillip I. Osborne. Together they had two children Elizabeth Ann and Parker Irvin Osborne. Family was extremely important to Becky and she made sure opportunities existed for the children to interact with extended family on vacations and holidays.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her father David R. Rogers, brother Scott Rogers (Sarah) and mother-in-law Sarah R. Osborne . She is survived by her husband, Phil, daughter Elizabeth, son Parker, mother Judith M. Rogers, brothers(spouses) Tom Rogers(Lisa) and Matt Rogers (Katie), father-in-law Paul( Irvin) Osborne., brother-in-law Mike Osborne (Leighann) and sisters-in-laws Jan Brown (Mike) and Debbie Price (Carl).

Becky’s outgoing personality, love for family and life, and upbeat attitude will be greatly be missed. Special thanks to everyone for the hundreds of cards and prayers that brightened her days this past year. She requested in lieu of flowers that gifts to local food banks (or Feed America), and school backpack programs be made in her memory. A celebration of life will be held a later date this summer.

The family would like to thank the Lumberport Baptist Church, Jones Run Church and Hospice for all their help and support.

Dear Osbourne family, I only today learned of Becky's death via an email that went out through the Davis College list serve. I served in WVU Extension for 25 years and interacted with Becky many, many times (mostly via email or telephone as I was an off-campus faculty member) - each interaction was a pleasure, both personally and professionally. She was extremely competent, knowledgeable, helpful, caring and understanding. The world would be a better place with more people like her. Please accept our sympathy and know that our memories of her are of a wonderful, loving and caring person. The Biggs Family.

I don't know Becky's family. I have not seen her since college and only recently friended her on facebook. I am late in finding out about her passing. Oh, my goodness the fun times we had at Potomac State. We met at Christian group that we belonged to. I don't even know how to say I am sorry to her husband and kids. I know they already know this, but she was a super great person and I feel like a hammer has hit me tonight writing this. My deepest condolences. But I know we will see her again.
