John M. Eleyette of Fairmont passed away at United Hospital Center on September 30, 2020. He fought the good fight and finished the course and now is with the Lord.
John was born February 11, 1931 in Farmington, WV being the only child to the late John and Genevieve Eleyette.
He graduated from Farmington High School in 1950 and then joined the Air Force to serve during the Korean Conflict. John worked for 27 years for Consolidation Coal Company, retiring from Robinson Run Mine in 1991. After retirement, John stayed busy by creating two watershed organizations that helped to clean the West Fork River. He also served a term as Councilman for the City of Shinnston. John attended The Shinnston Church of the Nazarene.
John is survived by his wife of 62 years of marriage, Mary Eleyette. They were blessed with five children, Wynne (Jim) Moyers of Salisbury, MD; Chris Eleyette of Fairmont; Phillip Eleyette of Parkersburg; Jill Eleyette of Fairmont and Steven Eleyette of Charleston. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Stacey Propper; James Moyers and one great grandson, Samuel Eleyette Propper. Also a very special buddy, Hollie, his Golden Retreiver.
In keeping with John’s wishes, his body will be cremated and he will be interned at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. There will be no visitation or service due to the Covid19 virus. A family only service will be held at a later date.
The family would like you to remember John as a humble and gentle man who loved the Lord and his family with all of his heart. John treasured his friends and his love for his country.
