Dorothy L Posey, 93, a longtime resident of East View, entered eternal peace on October 12, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family following an extended illness.
She was born on August 22, 1927 to the late J. Virgil Smith and Ruth Lee.
Dorothy is survived by her brothers, Virgil R. Smith and his wife Joan of Clarksburg, Glenn A. Smith and his wife Renee of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren; Robert Howe, Jeremiah Howe and Catherine Tyler; great-grandchildren; Corbin and his wife Kiara, Sam, Levi, Mariah, Ethan, Hunter, Darla, and Kayla; great-great grandchild, Lillian. She is also survived by her nieces Tammy Gragg and her husband Buddy with whom Dot made her home with for the last years 5 years; and Trina Queen Pearrell and her husband John along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul F. Posey; children; Paul F. Posey, Jr., Darla K. Tyler and Karen L. Howe; siblings, Lewis S. Smith, Kathleen J. Queen and Franklin P. Smith.
Dorothy was a member of the Lumberport Baptist Church and had a passion for singing as she did for her church choir and the Coon’s Run Homecoming Choir. She was well known for her cooking, baking and crocheting. Dorothy cherished spending time with her loving family.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday October 15, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a funeral service following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Chad Hutson officiating. The interment will be at Floral Hill Cemetery in Clarksburg, WV.
